We Believe:
GOD: There is one God, existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things, Ruler of the Universe, eternal, and infinitely perfect. (Gen.1:1; Deut.6:4; Ps.90:2; Mt.28:19; Jn.1:1-3; 2Cor.13:14; Jam.2:19; Rev.1:4-6).
JESUS: The Lord Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is equal with the Father, sinless and perfect. He died on the Cross as a sacrifice for our sins and by the shedding of His blood and subsequent bodily resurrection from the dead He provides the only means of satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who believe in His finished work at Calvary. Further, He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father and ministers as the believer’s High Priest and Advocate. He will return to earth personally, bodily, imminently, and gloriously, at a time known only to the Father. When He returns He will bring joy to His people, judgment and eternal punishment on unredeemed people, and an eternal state of blessing for every believer. (Mt.1:20; Mt.24;21; Lk.1:34-35; Jn.1:14,18; Jn.14:1-6; Acts1:11; Rom.3:23; Rom.4:25; Eph.2:8-9; Phil.2:6-11; Col.1:19; Col.2:9; 1Thes.4:14-18; 1Tim.2:5; Titus2:13; Titus3:5; Heb.1:1-9; Heb.4:14; 1Pet.1:5,18-19; 1Jn.5:20; Rev.19:11-20:6). HOLY SPIRIT: The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to glorify Jesus Christ, convict people of sin and draw them to the Saviour. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, baptizes the believer into the body of Christ, regenerates the believing sinner, infuses with new life, comforts, guides and instructs, fills, empowers, equips, and directs believers in Christ centered worship, witness and service. (Mt.28:19; Jn.3:3-7;Jn.14:16-18; Jn.16:7-13; Acts1;8; Acts2:1-4; Acts4;31; Rom.8:9; 1Cor.2:12; 1Cor.6:19; 1Cor.12:13; Gal.5:25; Eph.1:13-14; Eph.2:22; Eph.4:30; Eph.5:18). BIBLE: The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original documents and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (Josh.1:8; Ps.12:6; Ps.19:7-11; Ps.119:105,160; Mt.5:17-19; 1Cor.2:13; 2Tim1:13; 2Tim.3:16-17; 2Pet.1:20-21).Man is made in the image and likeness of God, but in Adam, mankind rebelled and was separated from God. This resulted in mankind having a sinful human nature. Thus it is only through accepting and believing in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as the basis for mankind’s justification and salvation, that we can become children of God and live lives that are holy and pleasing to Him. (Gen.1:27; Ps.8:3-6; Is.53:6a; Is.59:1-2; Acts4:12; Acts16:31; Rom.3:23; Rom.5:9,12,17-21; 1Cor.15:1-4; Eph.2:8-9). CHURCH: The Church is composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to worship God with praise, prayer and thanksgiving; glorify Christ through the proclamation of the gospel to all nations; exercise spiritual gifts by serving others in an attitude of love; and develop relationships as people are discipled in accordance with the Word of God. (Mt.28:19-20; Acts2:42; 1Cor.12:12-28; Gal.3:27-28; Eph.1:22-23; Eph.5:24-30). (Orillia Community Church is evangelical, evangelistic and non-denominational. Its members fellowship fully and heartily with other evangelical believers of similar persuasion.) ORDINANCES: Baptism and communion are two essential ordinances for all believers. They are symbolic acts representing the believers love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism signifies new life in Christ and devotion to Him as Saviour and Lord. Communion signifies the believers ongoing appreciation for Christ’s atoning death and resurrection life. (Mt.28:19-20; Acts2:41-42; Acts8:12,36-38; Acts9:18; Acts10:47-48; Rom.6:1-7; 1Cor.11:23-34; Col.2:12). |
